Train your balance with a variety of exercise modalities chosen to challenge all aspects of balance including dynamic balance, core strength, posture, and the three balance systems.
Using a combination of seated and standing exercises, this class focuses on strengthening the core muscles important for good balance as well as proper posture. We will also perform activities that challenge the body systems that are responsible for maintaining balance: vision, proprioception, and vestibular. You can also expect exercises that are designed to improve gait and coordination during this 1-hour class. The Balance Training class is offered on Fridays from 8:45 - 9:45 am.
Due to the nature of this class, a diverse collection of equipment is employed. Along with dumbells and resistance bands you may also need an inflatable ball, gliders, and a yoga mat or cushion. Participants will be informed in advance of each class if any additional accessories are required.
